Carlsbad Police Department Implements eSOPH to further improve sworn and non-sworn applicant processing.

January 23, 2014 – Carlsbad, CA. On Thursday January 23, 2014, the Carlsbad Police Department executed a 12-month license agreement to use eSOPH, Miller Mendel’s background investigation software system. The Carlsbad Police Department intends to process at least 200 applicants within 12-months, using eSOPH.

On behalf of the Carlsbad Police Department, the eSOPH transition project was led by Lieutenant Mickey Williams. As of January 23, 2014, the Carlsbad Police Department is the third agency in the state of California to transition their background processing to eSOPH.

The city is located 87 miles south of Los Angeles and 35 miles north of downtown San Diego. Carlsbad is home to more than 109,000 citizens, spanning over 39 square miles. The men and woman of the Carlsbad Police Department are organized into five divisions: Patrol, Traffic and Parking, Investigations, Juvenile Services and Services. CPD is authorized for 113 sworn positions and 49 non-sworn positions. CPD also includes over 120 volunteers.
