Nevada Department of Public Safety Selects eSOPH.

January 15, 2016 – Carson City, NV. - The Nevada Department of Public Safety (DPS) has executed a 12-month license agreement to use eSOPH, Miller Mendel’s background investigation software and network system. The Nevada DPS currently has 129 vacancies. DPS intends to process approximately 300 pre-employment background investigations within the 12-month eSOPH license period.

On behalf of the Nevada DPS, the eSOPH transition project was led by personnel from the DPS Human Resources Division and the DPS Director’s Office.



The Nevada Department of Public Safety provides law enforcement, homeland security and a variety of other public safety related services to the residents and visitors of Nevada. The formation of certain agencies within the DPS date back to the early 1900’s. The DPS headquarters is located in the state’s capitol: Carson City.

The DPS is organized into 9 divisions: Capitol Police, Emergency Management and Homeland Security, General Services, Highway Patrol, Human Resources, Investigations, Patrol and Probation, State Fire Marshall and Training. There are 3 bureaus within the DPS: Criminal Justice Assistance, Professional Responsibility and Traffic Safety. The DPS is authorized for a total of 1524 personnel: 640 sworn and 884 non-sworn (“civilian”) personnel.
